ROSE and VIOLET ‘RAINBOW’ SPRING CONCERT 2023 INFO SHEET!
WHEN IS THE CONCERT? Thurs May 25, 5:45 pm at Lakota East HS Auditorium.
Who can be in our Spring Concert? All SDA dancers!
Are we expected to participate? We hope every dancer will be a part of our Concert, however we never insist on participation. Out of town, unable to participate? See end of this info sheet.
When will concert dance practices be? DURING CLASS in April and May; music has already been selected and trial step combinations will be worked on this month and next along with regular class technique!
Will there be any extra practices? No extra practices are scheduled!
How many dances will my ROSE dancer perform? Rose level dancers will be taught 2 dances for the concert: one ballet and one tap.
How many dances will my VIOLET dancer perform? VIOLET level dancers will learn 3 dances depending on their classes: one ballet and one jazz, plus either a tap or modern/lyrical dance. ACRO students will perform an additional dance.
What will the concert be like? The entire concert, with dances from every Rose and Violet class, will be about 1 hour, 15 minutes with no intermission. The program order will be set in late April.
When I get to the theater, what do I do? You will hand off your dancer to our Silver Teen Staff dancers in the hallway next to the theater. Take your seat in the audience and enjoy the show! We’ll get them to and from the stage, keeping them together (and safe) with their class in between dances.
What about photo/video during the concert? Parents may personally photo/video their own dancer, but not others for privacy reasons. We trust you’ll adhere to this rule. Every dancer will get a USB stick of the show and the SDA non-professional video will be available Sat eve May 27-Mon eve May 29 to watch with family and friends!
How do I get my child after the concert? Dancers will remain onstage after the last dance with the curtain open. When you connect with your child, we’ll get them together! You may take photos onstage too!
What about ROSE costumes? All ROSE dancers will get one costume and tan tights. Most dancers have theirs already-we’re using the same Nutcracker dresses for the Concert. New students will get their dress when the costume fee has been paid, 1st week of classes in April. Tights handed out in early May.
What about VIOLET costumes? All VIOLET dancers will get one pink/aqua dress (for tap and jazz), a leotard and separate skirt (for ballet and lyrical/modern) and tan tights. Most dancers have their jazz/tap dress already-we’re using the same Nutcracker pink/aqua dresses. All dancers will get their costumes the 1st week of classes in April. Tights handed out in early May. (ACRO needs no additional costume)
Do we get to keep the costumes? YES! Dancers keep all costumes and tights!
How do we wear our hair? ALL Rose and Violet dancers may wear their hair in any style parents prefer if it’s out of their face and they can see clearly! Ponytail, high bun, low bun, ½ up/down, braids, bangs, whatever you like is wonderful!
What about makeup? Dancers may wear makeup or none, parents’ decision!
